Woke up at 5:30am to get on the road to head to Les Arcs. Was very cold this early in the morning.
After about 7 hours we got to Les Arcs.
We then quickly checked in and managed to get a couple of runs in.
Once we got back to the hotel we went for a quick swim whilst Nigel was fixing his breaks.
Then we headed out for dinner and sipped a few pints of stella.
Up early today to make the most of the last days riding.
Rode the top section until lunch.
After lunch we did the run down to the bottom. Went back up the top and did one more run then decided to call it a day. Nigel broke his pedal too so probabaly for the best. Rou and Mary stayed out and did a run right from the top to the bottom.
Came back and chilled then went for beers and dinner at about 7ish. Nigel played golf in the hotel and some French lady played the piano very well!
Watched the fireworks at 10pm as it was Bastian day, was a nice end to a trip! Me and Nigel then went back to the hotel and listened to the continued celebration music outside. Was quite pleasant.
Driving home today, had breakfast at 8:30 then packed up and loaded the van. Set off at about 11am and stopped in Bourg to grab some lunch at the Super U. Had some fun and games there as the till lady refused to give us a bag so we had to grab a cardboard box. We then ran over the 6 pack of water we forgot to put in the van! Managed to salvage 3 bottles though. Then we finally got on our way.
Arrived home at about 10pm nice!
Rou and Mary got up at 4am to go film on top of the mountain and watch the sunrise. When they got back at about 10:30am we headed to Mottolino to film for the day.
Filming went really well, managed to nail a massive hip sort of jump into a berm, did it second time, was very scary. Filming took about 4 hours still somehow.
Once we got down I changed my back brake pads and Mary went home as she was too tired and had been up since 4am! Me Rou and Nigel went back up with the go pro on my helmet. Grabbed a quick bite to eat at the top.
I did some chasing with the go pro on the way down. Then we went back up for another run this time with the go pro facing backwards so the guys chased me.
After that we cycled up the death hill and grabbed a quick beer.
Got back to the hotel and showered, then headed out for dinner and beer at about 7 ish.
Mary found out you can use the hotels bikes to ride down into town. This was comedy genius. They were so shit we were all crying with laughter.
Ate some good horse steak.
We then checked out the brewery and some night clubs. Rou and Mary left at about 1am. Me and Nigel stayed out for a couple more beers and did some stupid dancing.
Riding the bikes up the hill back to the hotel was mote than amusing!
This is how I found Nigel at 6am.
Woke up and headed up to Pila. Did one bike park run then tried to find the Rocky Balboa free ride trail. But we failed so had to take the road down, which was actually quite fun.
Got the bubble up then did two more runs on the Pila bike park before having lunch.
After lunch we did the free ride run down to Aosta and took some pictures on the way.
When we got back up the lift Rou and Nigel did the free ride run again. Me and Mary just did a Pila bike park run. Came back and chilled at the hotel. Nigel washed some clothes in the biday.
Went out for pizza and for once only had two pints. Absolutely dead but fear the fly will keep me awake all night again. Me and Nigel had a hot chocolate.
Driving day today, off to Livigno! About a 6 or so hour drive. Quite handy really as body needs a rest day. Note to self we are yet to get in contact with the lady who is meant to be sorting our accommodation in Livigno.
Got accommodation finally whilst driving through mountains with snow all over them.
Arrived in Livigno after about a 6 hours drive. Checked out the digs, nice and cosy with Nigel, then walked to town to check out things.
After walking probably too far we turned round and found a pub called Marcos.
Then it decided to piss it down loads. After much discussion Mary kindly went out in the rain with a borrowed umbrella from the pub and got the van!!
Had dinner back at the hotel and had a few beers.
Had breakfast earlier today, was up at Pila lift by 10am.
Did a couple runs then Nigel changed his breaks over. Me and Rou went up for a run on our own.
When Nigel had changed his breaks we went up for another run then decided to do an off piste trail down to Aosta. We got a little lost but made it. Had lunch in there too. Was a basic panini, very basic, pretty much just a role.
After lunch we headed back up the bubble to Pila. Rou had warped his back disc break so played breaks at the top. Nigel did some filing which was fun.
Once Rou’s breaks were sort of fixed we headed up for one last run. Came back showered and relaxed in front of the mountains.
Woke with a nice view!
Headed up the mountain. Smashed some no stop runs with Rou.
Then we had lunch and did the free ride run down to Aosta twice. Finished up with one more run from the top of Pilla. Had some beers before heading back to the hotel.
Watched the sun go down, played table football then went out for pizza!
Had a fly landing on my head all night was annoying.
Rain day today, so no biking as we didn’t fancy driving to Pila with a load of muddy bikes.
Nigel made some banging scrambled eggs though!
Did some bike maintenance, Nigel played chains, Rou played gears and I played bar grips.
Arrived in Pila at about 5:30pm
Very slow day today, everyone was a bit hungover. We finally managed to go for a ride at about 1:30pm. Rou did the pole camera. We only did one run as was a bit tired.
So we packed up the van with the bikes in the car park ready to head off tomorrow morning. Once we got back to the hotel me and Nigel had an ice cream then I went and had a lay down in the room.
